I'm Brooks

Most days you will find me chasing my two little girls around the house (probably still in pajamas!), answering endless "why?" and "what's that?" questions, sweeping crumbs and spilled spices off the floor, or trying something new in the kitchen while watching the girls play in their fairy garden out the window.

I've called Knoxville home for 10 years but growing up in South Carolina instilled in me a love for southern food, the beach and the mountains.

Meet Brooks

A few things about me: I love to bake, I hate lukewarm coffee, I always have a pile of clothes on my bedroom floor (not proud of it), I have a thing for Polish pottery, I love personality tests (ESFP!) and I love to travel and explore new places & restaurants. I don't deserve my awesome husband and laughing with him is my favorite.

I am passionate about people knowing they are loved and valued. I want every person to see and believe in their unique beauty, potential and ability to make our world better.

I am a story-teller because I believe that every person's story is important. I strive for honesty and joy in my photographic work and I cherish moments and the imperfections that make them real. I see so much beauty in people and the relationships we have with one another and it's connection that I love to see in my photographs.

I would love to meet you, to tell your story and share the beauty of your wedding day, your family, your life through pictures.

My husband and I love cooking for people and always want guests to feel at home, like family. I'm always looking for an excuse to bake and share with others. Otherwise, let's be real, I'd eat it all myself - no good.

Baking & Hospitality

"The heart of hospitality is about creating space for someone to feel seen and heard and loved. It's about declaring your table a safe zone, a place of warmth and nourishment."

If it can be described as warm & cozy, I'll probably love it. I try to surround myself with all the things warm, soft, pretty and yummy. For example, we have an embarrassing number of blankets in our living room, we frequently have a scent pot on the stove or candles lit and we love building fires whenever it's justified! It's my goal that friends, family & guests in our home feel cozy too. :)

Warm & Cozy

I lived in Eastern Europe for 2 years after college and have had the travel bug ever since! My experiences have changed me and led me to value different people & cultures more deeply and I'm grateful for that.

Travel

They really are sugar and spice and all the things nice. Heart-melters, kitchen-dancers, story-tellers and patience-teachers. It would be impossible to love them any more. :)

My Girls

This is by far my most favorite person. We grew up 3 hours apart but met in Slovakia. Our first couple dates were in the beautiful city of Ohrid, Macedonia. We heard a symphony play in a Roman amphitheater overlooking the lake with the Albanian mountains in the background. Pretty much an epic start to any relationship! It didn't take long to figure out we made a pretty good team. We are complete opposites in many ways but I like to think we balance each other out plus it keeps life exciting. This year (2017), we celebrate 10 years of marriage! Where did the time go?? I wouldn't want to do life with anyone else!

My Man

I am passionate about people knowing they are loved and valued, and not for what they do, but for who they are. I want every person to see and believe in their unique beauty, potential and ability to make our world better.

I am a story-teller and I believe that every person's story is important. I strive for honesty and joy in my photographic work and I cherish moments and the imperfections that make them real. I see so much beauty in people and the relationships we have with one another and it's those moments of connection that I love to see in my photographs.

Looking back at pictures of family, friends, and adventures during different seasons tends to foster a sense of gratitude.  We pause and say thanks for the people whom we love & who love us and how far we've come or how much we've grown.

Whether it's capturing your season of engagement and wedding where you want to remember every carefully planned detail and every person who came to support you.  Or maybe, like me, you are in a season of little ones who take everything you have (including your heart!) and will not be little for very long.  Maybe you want to capture your children with their grandparents. Or maybe you just experienced a big life event. Whatever the case, seasons change quickly, and I'd love to capture and preserve your current one.

the Wedding Experience

$175
1 hour, 1 location

The beauty of life does not come from one big, specific moment, but from a collection of thousands of little moments. Whether it is in a park, on a downtown street or a spot  sentimental to you, these sessions aim to capture some of those moments and special occasions. These sessions are typically done in the two hours before sunset, Monday-Friday.

Anniversary & Portrait

$250
1.5-2 hours

I love lifestyle sessions because they are a glimpse into the often messy & imperfect but real &  beautiful moments that make up our lives. I believe that all your little moments are valuable and the life you live in your home is important. Life moves quickly and the phase you're in now will not last long. In these sessions I strive to capture all the things that make your home yours.

only small things with great love.
Happy are those."
